Ring Care and Maintenance

Want to prolong the life of your Ring?

You’ve made a life-long commitment to maintaining that beautiful piece! If you’re thinking of the right things to do to maintain your Ring, we decided to help you by providing 3 simple steps you can take to be proactive.

We realize that some of these suggestions may go against what you believe. We get it. There is a lot of sentiment behind your beautiful piece! Read these steps and we’ll let you be the judge. Some of those Jewellery Repairs can run quite a few dollars, especially when it comes to Engagement Rings.

Suggestion 1 - Take your Ring off

Yes, it doesn’t get in the way that much, but when it does, it can be costly. Everything your hands are touching, your Ring is most likely going to come in contact with. Whether you’re gardening, working or simply sleeping, it’s just another chance your Ring comes in contact with something. The eventual degradation of the Ring means it won’t look like it did the first day you slipped it on your finger.

Suggestion 2 - Keep it clean

We can’t think of one person that wouldn’t want a shiny Ring. Our first suggestion will help here, but you can also buy Connoisseurs Jewellery Cleaning options, including their Solutions and Polishing Cloths. Yes, they work! Using these 1 to 2 times a year will give you a quick shine. If you’re looking for a deep cleaning, visit your Goldsmith or Jeweller as they will conduct a clean with their UltraSonic Jewellery Cleaner.

Suggestion 3 - Visit your Goldsmith for a check

Almost all Goldsmiths or Jewellers will offer a complimentary check on your Ring. Take them up on the offer as often as every 6 to 12 months! That check can easily show you whether all the knicks and dings over the years have caused enough damage to your Ring, specifically, the claws. Let’s face it, you don’t want to lose a Diamond.

All in all, if you can’t part with it for a few minutes, we totally get it. Remember that you’re simply prolonging the life of your Ring and avoiding any future costs to repair it. Sometimes not taking it off means it’s staying there forever. Over time, your Ring will form around your finger and may need to be cut off in order to get it off completely!

If you’re reading this and it’s a bit too late, visit your Lindsay local Jewellers at Design by Jesse where Jesse, our Goldsmith, will provide a complimentary professional review of your Ring. If you’re simply looking to keep it clean, take us up on our offer to have a free UltraSonic cleaning to give your Ring the original shine. We’re right in the heart of Lindsay, off Kent Street servicing all of the Kawartha Lakes and surrounding areas.
